I joined the SYP crime training department in 10th June 2013 where Andy Cordy was already an established member of the team and part of his portfolio was Cyber Crime and Open source investigation. Part of my remit was for Andy to mentor and develop me in this area so that I could deliver the same courses and give some resilience for the department in his absence.
Over a number of months Andy shared his expertise in this area taking time to discuss the different modules and reasoning for the lesson plans he had developed to attain the aims and objectives of the courses.
He was patient and understanding taking time to explain various aspects of the course material in depth. Andy ensured that I was knowledgeable in each area before delivering the relevant lesson. This was a gradual process until I was unable to take the training lead in a full course delivery. Throughout this period Andy gave honest and relevant feedback focusing not only me as a trainer but ensuring the students learning was maintained.
Following Andy's departure from the department, through his help I was able to take over the role training Cyber Crime and there were several occasions following Andy leaving the where he came back to assist in the training.
I would highly recommend him for any position that requires a knowledgeable trainer with an approached that is focused on student learning.

I am a trainer employed by South Yorkshire police. I train Detectives in elements of law and practice.
In particular I run a three week course aimed at Detective Inspectors managing serious crime. Within this there is an element of the management of cybercrime. Andy Cordy has been used as my subject matter expert over the years. I have found his knowledge to be current and evolving, with a practical bias towards defending against cyber threats and the proactive investigation of all elements of digital crime.
I also run courses on Intelligence and the National Intelligence Model. Andy again provides expert opinion and knowledge on the use of digital passive information collection and the practical methodology for collection and evidencing this information for a court of law.
Andy is innovative in his teaching methodologies and keeps the students engaged. He adapts and pitches the learning to suit the audience ensuring that optimum learning is achieved. Andy ensures that the all the students participate in his lessons and values their application and input.
As a matter of course I gather feedback from students on the relevance and quality of various inputs. Without fail Andy’s sessions are received with glowing recommendations on all counts

Operation BEN is an investigation into the disappearance of Ben Needham. Ben was just 21 months of age when he was last seen on the Greek Island of Kos in 1991.
As part of the investigation in March 2012, over 20 years since Ben disappeared, you as part of a team were tasked to re interview all the Needham family. This was an extremely complex process that required the services of an experienced interview co-ordinator as well as highly experienced and trained interviewers.
The task employed a team of officers for over a week and involved months of planning. All interviews were 'live time' monitored to assist the interviewing officers and compile an immediate, useable product to the enquiry tea.
The interviews were a great success resulting in the identification of many further lines of enquiry. furthermore the family were all over.
Whilst the interviews were ongoing the head of crime Detective Chief Superintendent Bates visited the control base. DCS Bates felt the process was outstanding.
May I personally thank you for your contribution to this very challenging project.
